So, how long do we want the quarters to be...I want them to be long enought where we have some type of "real" game stats and long enough where running the ball for 3 first downs doesn't eat up the whole quarter. There will also be a regular clock and an accelerated clock...any ideas on which ones to use? I vote for 7 or 8 minute quarters. Also, play this game like it's real football....if your up 30 points in the 3rd with 5 minutes left don't try and pad your stats and blow someone out by 50 points....run the ball...basically play the way a real NFL coach would. Please reply with suggestions and comments.

6 minutes gives you pretty much accurate NFL season stats and i agree no CHEESEBALLS allowed....Dont go for it on 4th down on your own 40 yard line punt the ball.... John you should really set up a basic set of rules to follow and then anything not in the rules is fair game and i will give you an example.. One league i was in if you were on or before the 40 and it was 4th down you had to punt unless it was the 4th QT, but they did have a rule in place that over rides the first rule. if your on or before the 40 and down by 20 or more in the 3rd QT you could take a shot on 4th down...Just some basic rules, nothing that would change being able to be your own coach and play your own style of game...

Definately like the punt rule, But the Quarters shouldn't be longer then 6 minutes. Any longer and the game will take more then an hour.

I like 6 minutes. Also like the Punt rule. I say you can only go for it in "crucial" situations.

I always play 6 minutes, and I think there should be some type of rule in place about playing simulation football (not going hail mary up by 30, not going for 4th and 11 in the first 3 quarters in your own territory, etc) the question is what are going to be the exact guidelines. Personally I would say if somebody calls a fake punt, that might be acceptable because occasionally a team will break one out on short yardage from their 40 out if they are trying to take momentum or set a tone. But even then it is very rare.

6 minutes should be good and hopefully everyone is classy enough to already know not to run up the score on someone, if given the chance.
